America’s land-warfare force can trace its roots back to the Continental Army of 1775, which was formed to fight the American Revolutionary War. In a lot of ways, America’s Army was serving its people before America was established as a proper country. On June 3, 1784 the Congress of the Confederation disbanded the Continental Army and formally established the United States Army.
Today the men and women of the U.S. Army, National Guard, and Reserves continue to show that regardless where they are, they are the backbone of America’s military force.
