In 1999, Original Footwear Company set out to make a line of tactical boots that would stand up to all the different environments law enforcement officers face while still being comfortable enough to wear during their long hours.
How’d they do it? They looked to athletic shoes for inspiration. Initially, they started using lasts that were influenced by an athletic structure and have since incorporated more athletic technology into their boots. The result is the Original S.W.A.T. line of boots, a comfortable, durable law enforcement boot that doesn’t have a break in period.
Testing the Tactical Boots
Original Footwear doesn’t mess around when it comes to making sure their boots are field tested and approved. Like all their brands, Original S.W.A.T. boots are tested in-house, by an independent testing company, and by both civilian and military volunteers. Only after the boots pass all of those inspections are they sold to the military, law enforcement, and public.

At 9 inches, the Original S.W.A.T. Classic 9 inch Side Zipper Tactical Boot provides some excellent ankle support, not to mention a Texon stability platform for extra support during side-to-side movements. When it comes to jobs in law enforcement, you know that you can always expect the unexpected – so having a supportive shoe (especially one that exceeds safety standards for slip resistance) is important.
The boot is a great example of how Original S.W.A.T. incorporates comfort features into their boots. They’re moisture-wicking and come with a custom-molded EVA midsole to give you an extra layer of padding for those double shifts. This boot also comes in a desert tan color, making it a good choice as a military boot as well.

The Original S.W.A.T. Classic 9 inch Side Zip Safety Toe Plus Boot is another one we love partially for the ankle support it provides. This boot also gets some of its stability and shock protection from the nylon composite safety toe. The composite toe is a favorite of our law enforcement customers because the absence of metal means they’re able to get through airport and other security checkpoints quickly while still keeping their toes protected from impacts and penetration.
Like other S.W.A.T. boots, these are moisture-wicking, and the side zip makes them easy to get on and off.

Not everyone loves a high-rise boot. For those customers, we recommend the Original S.W.A.T. Metro Air 5 inch Side Zipper Boot. You’ll still get plenty of stability thanks to the custom-molded thermoplastic heel counter and toe box and the Texon stability platform.
This boot is also incredibly comfortable with the custom-molded phylon EVA midsole, foam padded collar and tongue, and moisture wicking materials.
