Rocky’s first camouflage pattern is being called Venator, which means “hunter” in Latin. Venator took two years to produce, years filled with hunting-boots-on-the-ground research that included interviews with the very people who would be wearing it someday. During a hunt in Utah a company rep realized the need for a pattern friendlier to the western region and they quickly decided to move forward. Then they realized there was an even greater possibility: an all-region camo.
Venator is a fantastic use of various colors and shapes. This isn’t a pattern simply made up of reproduced images of vegetation. This is a pattern carefully designed for specific colors and shapes. Rocky says their new camo blends in seamlessly regardless of the setting. It’s been field-tested by seasoned hunters and guides all across the country. Needless to say results have been overwhelmingly positive across the board.
Venator is a new multi-region pattern that boasts the quality features Rocky’s products are known for. Features include the company’s reliable Scent IQ and ThermalGuard technology and gloves utilize Rocky’s Grip Tech. Scent IQ aids in keeping the wearer undetected – at least by scent – while ThermalGuard prevents thermal transfer by keeping cold air out and body heat in. The material is also burr-resistant, which both protects the wearer from stabbing plant hooks and teeth and extends the life of the clothing overall.
Not only does this apparel line feature active technology, the Venator line addresses basic issues as well. The rain jacket and pants fold down to under 8.5”x11” so they’re easy to tuck in your pack without additional bulk. Boots will be made in the new pattern in uninsulated styles featuring durable outsoles made specifically to withstand mountain terrain. Comfortable details are also attended to, such as the base layer, which is made with DriRelease Poly Wool Fleece. That means a soft fit with the benefit of wicking.
Marketing Director Jordan Gottke is understandably enthusiastic about the new camo and had this to say during a talk about the new line: “We put more than two years of consumer research, field testing and product development into Venator camo, and we are excited to finally share it with consumers in 2016. The camo is unique in that we believe it is one of the first camouflages that can be worn across the United States. Prior to Venator, most camos have worked well in some regions, but not all. The early results we have gotten from our testers is very exciting. Not only has the camo provided them with the stealth they need; the layering system provides superior warmth, stretch and breathability.”
Rocky’s Venator line will launch with the men’s line by the fall of 2016. The clothing line includes base and outer layers, rain gear, snow camo, and boots. There is a possibility there will be a women’s version of the Venator line in the future.
One chance. One shot. One camo. Venator.
