The media has used the recent shootings by police , in Baton Rouge and Falcon Heights, and even the ambush murders of five Dallas-area police officers to further their false message – that police are responsible for all that is wrong with the minority community. Despite evidence to the contrary, the mainstream media refused to allow the facts to dictate the story – instead molding what little they did know to fit their desired outcome. They even brought in so-called experts to bolster their position – except that one refused to do so. Wait until you hear what former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani had to say.
Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, previous leader of one of America’s largest and most diverse cities, as well as a former Federal Prosecutor, appeared to be the perfect expert for a CBS News Face the Nation piece on racial profiling and unjust treatment by law enforcement. But the interviewer forgot one important rule – always know the answer before asking the question. When asked about whether whites have a lack of understanding of the “black experience” and related fear African Americans have of law enforcement, Mr. Guiliani first agreed, offered condolences to all involved and then flip the coin with the following response:
“There’s too much violence in the black community. If you want to deal with this on the black side, you’ve got to teach the black side, you’ve got to teach your children to be respectful of the police, you’ve got to teach your children that the real danger to them is not the police; the real danger to them, 99 out of 100 times, 9,900 out of 10,000 times, are other black kids who are going to kill them. That’s the way they’re going to die.”
Mr. Giuliani went on to state that Black Lives Matter is “inherently racist” and “Anti-American” before then blaming the media for unfairly and disproportionately reporting on the small number of African Americans killed during police encounters while ignoring the growing number of blacks killed in places such as Chicago every week. He went on to claim Black Lives Matter has placed a target on the back of every police officer in America – with the media’s assistance. The host was clearly caught off guard and his feeble attempts to regain control, and counter Mr. Giuliani’s points, were completely unsuccessful.
Of course, once the media talking heads had a chance to circle their wagons they responded by trying to shoot holes in Mr. Giuliani’s “statistics,” which were clearly generalizations and not meant to be facts. What the media does not realize is that a growing number of Americans did not look at the former Mayor’s comments as incorrect or the words of a pro-police Republican. The average American sees Mr. Giuliani as saying what a lot of other people have been thinking but are afraid to say.
