The rift between the police and the race agitators took a turn for the worse over the past weekend. The execution of two police officers in New York by a career criminal heavily influenced by the agitation created in Ferguson and New York should give everyone in this country pause.
It is no longer about race. It is no longer about pushing your agenda. Now, it is about the police being twice as cautious, twice as wary and twice as likely to protect themselves at the cost of lives. Maybe even innocent lives in the future.
Of the five deaths that are at the heart of this discussion, only two of the men killed were innocent. Those two were the police officers in New York who were executed because some “gangster” thought that putting “wings on pigs” was more than a stupid sound-bite.
Every agitator in this country should be ashamed of themselves. Every person who called Brown a “gentle giant” and said that the police should pay for what happened needs to hang their head in shame and, more importantly, shut the hell up.
We have heard you.
Believe me, we have heard.
We heard that what we have said and done doesn’t matter. That there are people and groups whose sole purpose is to keep the supposed racial conflicts going in this country. That nothing we do, now or in the future, will ever be enough.
My heart goes out to the families of the innocent policemen whose lives were cut short. Those two men and their families deserved better. It is a tragedy and I am sorry it happened.
Now we have to prepare for what is going to happen next. Having listened to what the agitators have said, we should listen to what the police are saying. We should listen to former commissioner of the New York City Police Department Howard Safir, when he said, “It emboldens criminals and sends a message that every encounter a black person has with a police officer is one to be feared. Nothing could be further from the truth. We will never know what was in the mind of Brinsley when he shot officers Ramos and Liu. However we do know that he has seen nothing but police bashing from some of the highest officials in the land.”
The time has come to tamp down the rhetoric. To turn off the ugliness and to mend the wounds that are threatening to tear this country apart. That will not be done by the race agitators and politicians. It will be done by people like you and me.
